International Workplace Group plc (‘IWG’) endeavours to uphold the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining across our operations and supply chains. This statement aligns with the principles of the International Labour Organization’s Conventions 87 and 98 on Freedom of Association and the Right to Collective Bargaining. IWG supports the rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining through the promotion of good governance and the rule of law around the world and considers this an important aspect of corporate responsibility and workers’ rights.
Collective bargaining: The process of negotiation between employers and employee representatives (for example, trade unions) to reach agreements on employment terms, such as wages, hours, benefits, and working conditions.
Freedom of association: The right to freedom of association protects the right to organize and take part in peaceful meetings, marches and demonstrations. It protects the right to be part of 'associations' such as clubs, societies, political parties, religious organizations and trade unions.
Compliance with Legal Requirements
IWG is committed to complying with all applicable local, national, and international labour laws that protect relevant stakeholders’ rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining. We respect the right of all relevant stakeholders in scope to freely form, join or not join organizations of their choice and to engage in collective bargaining without fear of retaliation or discrimination.
The Right to Freedom of Association
IWG is committed to respecting the rights of all relevant stakeholders, including the freedom of association and collective bargaining on workplace matters. This includes:
- The right of all relevant stakeholders to freely associate, form or join trade unions, and collectively bargain.
- All relevant stakeholders will not be discriminated against or disadvantaged due to union membership, activity, or affiliation.
- Relevant stakeholders cannot be forced to join a protest, trade union or any other association.
- All relevant stakeholders will be allowed adequate time off for workers' representatives to carry out their duties.
- We will negotiate in good faith with employee representatives and honour collective agreements made.
- We expect our suppliers and business partners to uphold the same principles. Please see Supplier Code of Conduct for further information.
No restrictions shall be placed on the exercise of these rights other than such as are prescribed by law.
